NEW QUARTET

American composer David Gluck writes a new quartet for GABE. Scored for 2 trumpets, horn and trombone, the title of the work is: 'Leaves Fall, A Song of Soliloquy is Heard'.

From the composer:
'As Leaves Fall, A Song of Soliloquy is Heard' weaves together a collection of musical gestures inspired by viewing leaves sublimely falling down during an autumnal stroll. In the same way in which a change of season seems to sustain contemplation, the intention of this music is to conjure up an assortment of images and thoughts of enlightenment. The piece is one movement in length and contains many segues. In this sense, its construction reflects that of our very own lives. Musically speaking, the harmonic content is predominantly subtle and delicate with a few instances of boldness. The melodic and rhythmic motifs throughout are meant to be simple yet profound and inherit a dual essence of opposites. At last, nothing more than a song.
