NEW COMMISSIONS
Graham Ashton has been commissioned by SUNY Fredonia to write a Trumpet Concerto for the newly-appointed Professor of Trumpet, John MacDonald. Mr MacDonald will premier the work with the Fredonia Wind Ensemble in March 2007. The following month Mr Ashton will write the music for the 2007 ANZAC Day Ceremony on April 25th at the National Cathedral In Washington DC. Works are yet to be decided but will include a new ANZAC Fanfare and music for soprano soloist, choir, brass and organ. His new piece 'Danza' for trumpet, violin, flute, piano and marimba, inspired by the life of the Puertorican poet, Clemente Soto Vélez, will be premiered on December 9th, 2006 at the Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural Center for the Arts in the East Village, New York City.
