WALL TO WALL BACK
GABE has been invited to the 30th Anniversary of "Wall to Wall" at Symphony Space on Broadway, on Saturday, May 17th.
This year, Symphony Space celebrates their 30th season, by paying tribute to the very first 'Wall to Wall' festival in 1978 when the previously boarded-up theatre opened their doors to the public with a marathon of music by Bach.
Once again, Symphony Space offers a festival of Bach's music featuring some of Manhattan's favorite ensembles including American Symphony Orchestra, Graham Ashton Brass Ensemble and many others, performing preludes, fugues, cantatas, suites, concerti, sonati and more. The day-long festival concludes with a resounding performance of the B minor Mass.
The Graham Ashton Brass Ensemble will perform three of Mr. Ashton's virtuosic arrangements of Bach Chorales first performed at the Guggenheim Museum in 2006: "Ach, mein herzleibes Jesulein", "Nun seid ihr wohl gerochen" and "Ehre sei dir Gott!". These, amongst other dazzling arrangements, will be featured on GABE's upcoming cd 'Bach in Leipzig' due to be released in 2008.
Trumpets: Graham Ashton, Mark Gould, J.Roderick MacDonald Horn: Ann Ellsworth Trombones: Dick Clark (alto), Tom Hutchinson (tenor), Jeff Nelson (bass) Tuba: Kyle Turner
